A tasty variation on the basic white sauce which you can make gluten free as well.

Ingredients

*For a gluten free version substitute with an equal quantity of Edmonds gluten free flour

Method

  1. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over a medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until frothy.
  2. Remove from the heat and gradually add the milk, stirring constantly. Return to the heat and cook, stirring, until the sauce boils and thickens.
  3. Stir in the cheese and cook for another 2 minutes until it has melted, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
