Ingredients

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180ºC. Line two baking trays with baking paper.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and beat well.
  3. Sift the flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa together and add to the creamed mixture. Add the peanuts, roughly chopped if you wish, and mix well.
  4. Roll tablespoonfuls of the mixture into balls, place on the prepared trays and press down with a floured fork.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes or until firm and coloured on the base. Leave on the trays for 1–2 minutes then place on a wire rack to cool.

Love this recipe. Reminds me of my mum. I also make them without peanuts which is also delicious.

I have not seen this biscuit made any where other than NZ. My Mother made this regularly when us children were little.
They are crunchy and delightful.
I’m going to try this recipe with Carob Powder and may add Carob chips too

Very tasty I laaao added 1 cup of choc chips to the single recipie, everyone love them!

If you have a sweet tooth, replace half the peanuts with chopped up chocolate! Best biscuits I've ever made. Reduce the sugar to 3/4 cup to counteract the sweetness if needed.
