Freshly made crumpets are a revelation! You will need crumpet or egg rings – metal circles about 2cm deep and 7.5–10cm in diameter – to keep them circular. These crumpets are tender, delicious and fun to make.

Easy to make though takes a while. I halved the recipe and it made 12. I would use as little oil in the pan as possible or they can get a bit oily like donuts. Quite yeasty tasting compared to commercial crumpets. Would make again.

I love crumpets but unfortunately I didn’t realise that you have to have a special tool called a crumpet ring to make and don’t know what to do
I’ve tried several crumpet recipes and have been disappointed with each of them, they’ve turned out too heavy and produced minimal holes. I just tried your recipe, and oh my goodness, they are light and fluffy with enough holes to trap all that lovely butter!! Absolutely divine!! This is now my go to recipe!! Thank you Edmonds
Good recipe only I needed the line ‘in a separate bowl’ mix the water and milk as I put it all in the same bowl! Baking with the kids can make following even the simplest instructions difficult. :D
EDMONDS: Thanks for your kind suggestion Tamara. We've added in this line in to make it clearer for other bakers. All the best baking with the kids!
