Boiled Eggs


Boiling an egg doesn't seem that complex, does it? But to get the perfect yolk try our time tested method.

Prep Time: 3-10mins


eggs, room temperature


1. Put room-temperature eggs into a saucepan of cold water and place over a medium heat. When the water comes to a simmer, turn off the heat and put the lid on the saucepan. 

2. Leave in the pan until cooked the way you like them – see times below.

  • Soft-boiled 3–4 minutes
  • Firm white, soft yolk 4–7 minutes
  • Hard-boiled 8 minutes

3. As soon as hard-boiled eggs are cooked, put them under cold running water for a few minutes. This prevents a grey ring forming on the outside of the yolk.
