Crumble Topping For Cakes


A baked-on topping which removes the need to ice a plain cake – just dust it with icing sugar before serving. Perfect for when friends drop around unexpectedly.

Prep Time: 15mins


½ cup brown sugar

½ cup Edmonds standard flour

100g butter

¼ cup fine desiccated coconut

¼ cup chopped nuts


1. Combine the sugar and flour in a bowl and rub in the butter with your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Mix through the coconut and nuts. Sprinkle the topping over cakes before baking. You could also make this in a food processor.
