Christmas Mincemeat


Have a go at making your own mincemeat. So much better than store-bought and you can add your favourite flavours.

Prep Time: 30mins


2 apples, unpeeled, quartered and cored

1¼ cups currants

1¼ cups sultanas

1¼ cups raisins

1 cup mixed peel

¼ cup blanched almonds

1 cup brown sugar

¼ tsp salt

½ tsp ground nutmeg

275g butter, softened

2 Tbsp brandy or whisky


1. Mince or finely chop the apples, currants, sultanas, raisins, peel and almonds.

2. Add the sugar, salt, nutmeg, softened butter and brandy or whisky, and mix well.

3. Spoon the mixture into clean jars and seal well. Keep for at least 2 weeks before using.
