The basic sauce which is a base for many flavour variations. This is a great one for those who are just starting out. Get the hang of this and you have a huge range of sauces you can make just by adding a few other ingredients.
2 Tbsp butter
2 Tbsp Edmonds standard flour*
1 cup milk, heated
salt and pepper
*For a gluten free version substitute with an equal quantity of Edmonds gluten free flour
1. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over a medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until frothy.
