Baking Powder 400g

TJ Edmonds produced his first batch of Baking Powder in 1879 in response to learning of his customers dissatisfaction with the unreliable baking powder products they were able to purchase at the time. 

One customer reputedly questioned the superiority of the product over the one she was currently using.  Edmonds is said to have replied “It is sure to rise Madam” and so the famous Edmonds promise was born.

Raising agents (sodium bicarbonate, 450, 541), mineral salt (170), cornflour, cream of tartar.

Made on a production line that also produces products containing milk, egg, soy and sulphites.

About This Product:
  • Our Edmonds baking powder provides a double raising action - it activates as soon as moisture is added and continues on in the early cooking.  This is why you should preheat your oven as it is generally not a good idea to let your batter stand for too long before baking.
  • Baking powder should be stored in a cool, dry place as any moisture will cause it to lose its potency.  It should also not be stored mixed with flour as flour contains moisture.
